TKWL has joined forces with Links International, to launch a micro-enterprise development in the slums of Manyatta. Since the launch of the project at the end of 2016, a number of the parents of Simon Newberry School have been given the tools and resources to start up their own micro-enterprise or small business.

One parent, Mary, used the loan to re-start her second hand clothes business and is doing very well. Another TKWL parent, Joel, has been a cobbler for more than 20 years. Through the micro-finance training, Joel was advised to begin selling shoe accessories as well, which has increased his income in just a short time. George sells cosmetics, but his profits were reduced because he used middlemen to get supplies, but with the help of TKWL he now buys directly from the manufacturers, greatly increasing his income.
